Keeping your computer up to date is a very important part of the maintainence process.
To Launch Windows Update
Start Menu > Programs (or all programs) > Windows Update
The following window will open...
Click on 'Check For Updates'
Windows Update will now search for updates available.
Please note that some updates will be classed as important, others optional.
Under Important (or Critical) Updates click 'Install'
Installation can take some time but you will see the progress.
Once the updates have installed on your computer you may have to restart your computer.
Then, if you want to you can open Windows Update again
(Start Menu > Programs (or all programs) > Windows Update) to install the optional updates.
Set Windows Update To 'Automatically Update'
To help to keep on top of this process, set your windows update to automatically update, here's how...
Choose the settings that suit you.
In this example we have set our Windows Update to automatically install updates, everyday at 3pm as we know our computers are on everyday at that time and its also later in the day when we're not so busy as your computer may slow down during updating.
This will ensure that your computer is kept updated whenever a new update is available.
