What Is A Favicon?

Favicon is short for 'Favourites Icon'.

This is our favicon at Box Off My Computer.

They help a site to look professionally built and they're very easy to add to your site.

We use a free online Favicon Generator www.favicon.co.uk that is also very easy to use.

So first you need to make your logo 16x16,

so upload to favicon.co.uk by clicking on 'browse' and finding the icon you want to resize for your favicon.

Once uploaded click on the 16x16 option then 'Generate Favicon'.

After a few seconds your favicon will be ready to download back onto your computer,

click 'Download Your Favicon Here'.

Do not rename the file in any way, as it must remain as favicon.ico

Then using your website FTP facility, upload favicon.ico to your site.

You will then need to restart your browser to see your new favicon in place.
